I’m Back!

I should have done this a week ago, I love to procrastinate… I’ve been back here in Manila for almost 10 days and have hibernated for some time, not letting anyone know that I am once again here, the jet lag has been so bad, only in the last couple of days that it has slowly disappeared. I never really mentioned to you where I was ….I took a trip to New York, New Jersey and Washington DC to renew ties that must be done. My brother and his family stay in Princeton and I decided last year that I would try my best to visit him every year while I still can. During the whole period, I ate, drank and filled my brain with new methods, learning insights to this world I am in.

I enjoyed my time with Dico ( you should all know what this means) since we have to travel an hour and a half each way every day that I have to go to Manhattan. I loved our chats about everything under the sun but the best ones were about where I went, what funny thing I did and what I bought…a discovery of sorth….my nephew Joel who I truly admire for being a US born kid who loves to eat anything Pinoy except fried egg, he is a very intelligent child who easily gets bored…the first toy he asked me to get him was a Wii Aerosmith Guitar Hero – it was so funny, making the same notes again and again. …and of course, my Dete who would cook for me dishes I savoured to the halt, delicious home cooked food with some coming straight from me but interpreted differently with her one of kind brown rice that was beige in color….I had so much fun in this trip and can’t thank them enough for what they showered me with.

Entering the U.S. was a breeze, the immigration officer didn’t just asked me one question and it was how long was I staying in the States which I answered with less than a month. The customs officer too just asked me if I had food with me and I obliged but they were all cooked. What did I bring to America? Well of course, three dozens of Cunanan’s moistest and softest ensaymada, the super mega big pastillas you get in Market Market that has cows painted in its box, Ichiban’s dried squid ( the best one I ever tasted with the crispiness and texture intact for the whole time I was there ), Polland’s assorted Hopia ( don’t ask me why, but my family there loves it, and by the way, they have it now in sugar free), Dried Mangoes the brand I can not remember, very chewy and refreshing and of course, Ate Cyn’s pinipig polvoron which everyone loved even my French chef teachers couldn’t stop eating it.

I arrived in America looking like a zombie so I had to sleep it off but of course, I couldn’t do even if I only had two hours of sleep in the plane and was so lucky noone was beside me. So now, let me continue my sleep…….more stories to follow soon.

[photopress:USA2008_087.jpg,full,centered]I got a room in Millenium Hotel which is right infront of Ground Zero, on the right is the Path Station, where I take the train to New
Jersey and they are building 5 new towers in and around the area.
